SPM is my favorite club at LSU! The LSU Society of Peer Mentors is a student organization that focuses on STEM outreach, professional development, and support for students in the College of Engineering. I joined in January of my freshman year at LSU, and am so glad that I did! I have had so many great opportunities and made so many great friends in this club.
Outreach
My favorite part of SPM is the focus we put on STEM outreach. We got to a variety of events and show people why engineering is awesome! I love being able to share why I love engineering and be part of a group that inspires so many people to pursue STEM.

Professional Development
A great part of being in SPM is participating in multiple engineering-centered professional development activities. We have sessions on professional development at every club meeting and get to meet industry reps in various engineering fields. We also attend a yearly Leadership Workshop that focuses on how to be better student leaders. Click the images below to see some of the professional development opportunities I've had in SPM!
Club Meetings & Retreats
We have tons of opportunities to make friends in SPM. We have club meetings and social once a month where we get to have dinner and talk with other mentors. We also have a yearly retreat at Percy Quinn State Park where we get to meet our new class of mentors. I love getting to make friends form the entire College of Engineering! Club Leadership
I took on a leadership position as one of the SPM Outreach Chairs. I am in charge of organizing and recruiting mentors for monthly outreaches. I love being part of leadership for the club and helping other mentors participate in awesome opportunities!
