My Experience

This bench was created as part of my Manufacturing Processes course. For the project, we had to cut and then weld giant steel bars. I had never welded before, so it was a bit intimidating for me to take on this challenge. We were given a few practice pieces and then had to weld our benches.

Welding

Our lab instructor gave us and instructional sheet to begin this project in the school's Machine Shop. We cut and welded each piece of the bench in the drawings. This was a challenging project because I had not welded before, but I am proud of the result!

"You're Not Gonna Make It....You're Not Gonna Make It...You Made It!"-Dinosaur, Disney's Animal Kingdom

I was incredibly intimidated by this project. I had never worked with welding before and was in a class with several skilled welders. Though it was initially difficult, I am so proud that I stuck with it and made a bench that I am proud of. I learned to challenge and trust myself, even if it is scary, because the results can be pretty great!
