LSU Department of Residential Life

Resident Assistant

I worked as a Resident Assistant during my sophomore year. I loved my staff and residents! I was placed in Laville Hall, LSU's Honors Dorm. Though the work was challenging, I am so glad I had this experience to grow!
During my time as an RA, I was placed in charge of a hall of 30 residents. I served as a resource for them to acclimate to campus and residential life. I also decorated the halls and hosted social programs for our hall.
I also monitored hall safety with my staff through performing nightly rounds of the building and monitoring the front desk. During these times, we made sure that nothing against the rules was occurring and responded to emergencies by contacting safety officials and recording the situation.
Finally, I also planned and executed multiple programs for the entire 600-resident building, as well as participated in staff bonding and meetings.
